Posted February 11, 2019 01:04:18 New Scientist article We’ve known that there are some tiles that look like a 3-D roof tile for years now, but it was only in the last few years that the technology has progressed.
Now, in the latest issue of New Scientist, MIT’s Paul Kostes and his team have discovered how to make tiles with the same effect, but with a 2D texture.
They’ve also created a way to produce these tiles from a single 3D print.
They report that the tiles have the same look, feel and feel of real-world roof tiles and can be easily modified for other applications.
The team is also exploring other ways to produce roof tiles from 3D materials.
