Toronto, ON — — — The Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club has hired a designer to create new roof tiles that will be the envy of the NHL.
The tiles will be unveiled at a media day on Wednesday.
“The new Toronto Leafs will be inspired by the timeless beauty of Toronto and its skyline,” Maple Leafs President and CEO Brendan Shanahan said in a release.
“We will be able to create a new era of hockey for our loyal fans and to celebrate our heritage.”
The tiles, which are scheduled to be unveiled during the Maple Leafs media day, will be used to decorate the inside of the new arena in the city’s financial district.
Shanahan said the team plans to use them to decorating the new building.
The team has already used similar tiles for the new Maple Leaf Gardens and the new home of the Toronto Raptors.
Shanahan did not give a timeline for when the new Leafs might unveil the new roof tile.
The new Maple Leafs will play their first game of the season on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild at Air Canada Centre.
